Crane Collapse in Kurla, Mumbai Injures 11 People

Mumbai, August 21: A crane accident occurred in Kurla, Mumbai, on Friday morning. The crane was being used to lift an excavator to the upper part of a building when it lost balance and fell. Parts of the crane struck two nearby houses and the overhead electric wires of the Mumbai local railway. Several individuals were injured and have been transported to hospitals. The incident caused panic in the area. Local police and administration arrived promptly to initiate an investigation.

According to Central Railway, a crane operated by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) fell from a work site between Kurla and Trombay, impacting overhead equipment. Since this line primarily serves freight trains, regular operations were not significantly disrupted. Reports indicate that 11 people sustained injuries, and MMRDA has accepted responsibility for the incident.

DCP Ganesh Shinde of Mumbai Police stated that he met with the injured individuals. He visited nine of them in the hospital, confirming that their conditions are stable. One or two patients were admitted to private hospitals, but there have been no reports of fatalities.

Rescue operations are ongoing, and efforts are being made to remove the crane. The police have begun an investigation into the matter.
