COAS General Upendra Dwivedi Visits Chetak Corps and Nagi War Memorial

Jaipur, Thursday, 14 August 2025 :On the occasion of Independence Day, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi visited Bathinda Military Station and the iconic Nagi War Memorial at Sriganganagar in the Sapta Shakti Command theatre. He was briefed by the General Officer Commanding Chetak Corps and laid a wreath at the memorial, paying tribute to the legacy of valour and sacrifice that continues to inspire generations.

General Dwivedi received a detailed briefing on the operational readiness of units and formations deployed in the sector, the prevailing security situation, training activities, and operational logistics of the Chetak Corps. He commended the strong synergy between the Indian Army and the Border Security Force (BSF) in ensuring robust border management for national security. Appreciating the high level of commitment and professionalism of all ranks, he emphasised the importance of operational preparedness and realistic training to meet assigned tasks. He also urged personnel to stay updated with the latest technological advancements, remain vigilant against emerging security threats, and be prepared to respond effectively.

During the visit, the COAS interacted with veterans, prominent citizens, and the citizen warriors who had actively participated in the historic Battle of Nagi in 1971. Acknowledging their role in safeguarding the nation’s borders, he reaffirmed the enduring bond between the military and civilians. He felicitated Colonel Satpal Rai Gabba (Retd), Lieutenant Colonel Jagjit Singh Maan (Retd), Craftsman Banwari Lal Swami (Retd), and Subedar Major (Honorary Captain) Sis Ram (Retd) for their significant contributions to the armed forces, nature conservation, and nation-building.

The visit underscored the Indian Army’s steadfast commitment to safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the nation while upholding the legacy of courage, dedication, and sacrifice that forms the core ethos of the Indian Armed Forces.
