Tiruchirappalli, April 1: In the midst of the election atmosphere in Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin targeted the opposition party AIADMK on Wednesday. He alleged that if Edappadi K. Palaniswami’s government comes to power, it would hand over the state to the BJP.
While addressing a public rally in Tiruchirappalli, Stalin campaigned for the candidates of the Secular Progressive Alliance (SPM). He urged the public to ensure a 100 percent victory for the DMK alliance in nine assembly seats.
Stalin described this election as a decisive battle to save Tamil Nadu’s political identity and governance. He noted that the public had trusted the DMK in the 2021 assembly elections, leading to the formation of a ‘Dravidian model’ government. According to him, this government has fulfilled most of its promises and maintained social harmony in the state.
He claimed that Tamil Nadu has remained free from clashes based on caste and religion, contrasting it with BJP-ruled states. CM Stalin accused the BJP of attempting to create religious divisions in the state, with Palaniswami allegedly aiding their efforts.
Stalin stated, “If the BJP contests the elections alone here, it would receive fewer votes than ‘NOTA’ (None of the Above). This is why they rely on AIADMK.”
He further alleged that AIADMK operates under the influence of the BJP. Referring to an NDA meeting in Madurai, he mentioned that the picture of Dravidian movement leader Periyar E.V. Ramasamy was removed. He questioned whether former leaders M.G. Ramachandran and J. Jayalalithaa would have allowed such an act.
CM Stalin also raised concerns about Palaniswami’s leadership, stating that crucial decisions within the alliance are being made from New Delhi. He referenced Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statements, noting that while discussions about the NDA government are ongoing, Palaniswami has not been clearly declared as the face for the chief ministerial position.
