Citroen India Slashes Prices on Basalt SUV with Massive Discounts

Mumbai, March 21: Citroen India has announced a significant price reduction for its Basalt Coupe SUV this month. The company is offering a discount of ₹1.15 lakh on this model, which now starts at an ex-showroom price of ₹8.55 lakh. This marks an increase from its previous price of ₹8.15 lakh, reflecting a rise of ₹40,000 or 4.91% depending on the variant.

The Basalt SUV competes directly with the Tata Curve in the Indian market. Citroen’s pricing strategy seems aimed at attracting more buyers amidst rising competition.

The Basalt features a design reminiscent of the Citroen C3 Aircross, sharing similar elements such as DRLs, headlamp clusters, and grille placements. Its coupe-like roofline and built-in spoiler add a sporty touch, complemented by 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.

Inside, the Basalt mirrors the C3 Aircross layout, featuring a dashboard design and a 10.25-inch central touchscreen. Unlike the Aircross, it includes a fully digital 7.0-inch instrument display. Additional features include adjustable under-thigh support for rear seats, a 15-watt wireless phone charger, and connectivity options like wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The Basalt offers two petrol engine options: a naturally aspirated 1.2-liter engine producing 81 BHP and a turbocharged variant generating 108 BHP. The latter can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.

Color options include five single-tone choices: Polar White, Steel Grey, Platinum Grey, Garnet Red, and Cosmo Blue, with the possibility of contrasting roofs in white and red. The Basalt competes with models like the Tata Curve, Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, Kia Seltos, and Hyundai Creta.
