New Delhi, August 8: A significant step has been taken to bolster cybersecurity in the civil aviation sector. On August 7, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) signed a crucial agreement with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar. This partnership aims to equip CISF personnel with advanced skills in cybersecurity through a six-week specialized residential training program.
Under the leadership of CISF Director General Praveer Ranjan, a dedicated team of personnel will be formed to provide quick solutions to cybersecurity threats. Airports are among the most sensitive and critical infrastructures in the country. Any cyber disruption at these facilities could severely impact security, operations, and the economy. Recognizing this threat, the special cadre is being developed.
The six-week program, conducted under the institutional partnership between IIT Ropar, SCALE Foundation, and CISF, will be entirely free of charge. The training will cover theoretical knowledge as well as practical challenges faced on the ground.
Topics included in this program are the fundamentals of cybersecurity, critical information infrastructure, digital forensics, incident detection, disaster recovery, business continuity, emerging cyber threats, and multi-sector crisis simulation.
This collaboration with IIT Ropar will further strengthen CISF’s technological capabilities and prepare it for future challenges. The establishment of this specialized ‘cybersecurity cadre’ will not only ensure aviation security but also enhance the broader national cybersecurity framework.
