Gandhinagar, February 1: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Gujarat has welcomed the Union Budget 2026, stating that it presents a strong and positive framework to accelerate economic growth, enhance manufacturing competitiveness, and improve ease of living.
During a live budget viewing session held in Gandhinagar, CII Gujarat highlighted that the budget strikes a balance between immediate economic stimulus and long-term capacity building. This approach aligns with the central theme of ‘Sankalp’ and the three primary objectives of economic growth, aspirations, and equitable access.
Industry leaders participating in the session identified higher public investment, structural reforms, and targeted regional initiatives as key drivers for sustainable development.
Premraj Keshyep, President of CII Gujarat State Council, noted that increasing public capital expenditure to ₹12.2 lakh crore will have a multiplier effect on infrastructure and heavy industries. He said, “Focus on capital goods, new schemes for manufacturing and infrastructure equipment, and setting up high-tech tool rooms will significantly reduce import dependence. The proposed seven high-speed rail corridors, including the Mumbai-Pune route, will further strengthen industrial connectivity.”
Achal Bakery, Vice President of CII Gujarat, welcomed the budget’s urbanisation initiatives. He pointed out that the City Economic Region initiative, with an allocation of ₹5,000 crore for each region, recognises cities as engines of growth and will help unlock the economic potential of urban areas.
Vinod Agarwal, Convenor of the CII Gujarat Panel for Policy Advocacy, said Gujarat stands to benefit from the proposed support to establish three dedicated chemical parks. He also highlighted that the India Semiconductor Mission 2.0 and the Bio Pharma Shakti programme reflect efforts to strengthen domestic manufacturing and participation in global supply chains.
