Ranchi, August 7: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is set to interrogate all three current members of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) regarding irregularities in the 14th JPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination. The agency has issued summons to Dr. Ajita Bhattacharya, Dr. Anima Hansda, and Dr. Jamal Ahmed. The questioning will commence on Monday.
The three members were appointed on September 2, 2021, following approval from the state cabinet in August 2021. The CID aims to gather information from them about decisions and events related to the examination process. The agency has already conducted over 30 hours of questioning in four rounds with the former JPSC chairman and ex-chief secretary, L. Khiangte. Following a CID raid at the JPSC office on July 22, Khiangte resigned from his position.
Subsequently, the investigation agency also searched his official residence. So far, the CID has arrested a total of 19 individuals in connection with the examination irregularities, including Abhay Tiwari, the marketing manager of the outsourcing company TSR Data Processing Private Limited, which conducted the examination. The agency considers Tiwari the main accused and is probing his alleged network and connections with others involved.
Several other officials from the company and individuals associated with the examination have also been arrested. The CID is investigating the extent of the irregularities in the examination process and identifying all parties involved. With the summoning of the three current JPSC members, the scope of the investigation has now widened.
