Beijing, May 1: The spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce addressed reporters on Friday regarding the recent restrictions imposed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) of the United States related to testing, certification, and telecommunications.
The spokesperson stated that the FCC has abandoned the principle of technology neutrality and has generalized national security concerns, imposing repeated restrictions without factual basis. The FCC exhibits discriminatory behavior towards companies and products from China and other countries, severely harming the interests of China and its trading partners. These restrictive measures undermine the hard-won stability in China-US economic and trade relations and violate the prosperous consensus reached between leaders. China is closely monitoring the situation and strongly opposes these actions.
The spokesperson noted that the FCC will seek public opinion on the relevant restrictive measures. If restrictions are enacted, it will significantly impact the international trade and economic order. The stability of the global industrial and supply chains in the communications electronics and related sectors will be disrupted.
This will also affect global industrial cooperation and technological innovation. Furthermore, the interests of American industries and consumers will suffer, impacting the security of the US supply chain as well.
China hopes that the US will respect market rules, cease wrongful actions, and revoke the relevant measures. If the US remains obstinate, China will take necessary steps to protect the legal interests of its enterprises.
