China Implements New Ethnic Unity and Progress Promotion Law

Beijing, July 1: The “Law on the Promotion of Ethnic Unity and Progress of the People’s Republic of China,” passed during the fourth session of the 14th National People’s Congress (NPC) in March, has officially come into effect.

This law comprises 65 articles, covering the preamble, general provisions, the construction of a shared spiritual home, promotion of exchanges and integration, advancement of shared prosperity and development, guarantees and supervision, legal responsibilities, and supplementary provisions.

It systematically outlines guiding ideologies, fundamental principles, key tasks, guarantee measures, and legal responsibilities for national unity and progress in the new era.

Experts note that this law is the only newly created legislation since the 18th Communist Party Congress that includes a separate preamble, marking it as a fundamental law with significant importance.
