Raipur, February 24: The Chhattisgarh Assembly will present the budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 today at 12:30 PM. Finance Minister OP Choudhary will introduce the third budget of the Vishnu Dev Sai government. Early indications suggest that this budget is crucial for rapid development, robust infrastructure, and inclusive growth. The budget session began on February 23 with a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee.
Sources indicate that in alignment with the priorities of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, the state government may emphasize a balanced model of security and development. There is a strong likelihood that the budget will focus on provisions related to roads, communication, education, health, and livelihoods, particularly in Bastar and surrounding areas.
Informal signals also suggest that initiatives to promote startups and MSMEs, increase employment opportunities for youth, and develop Raipur into a metro city may be included in the budget. Efforts to strengthen the rural economy through development plans at the panchayat level could also gain momentum.
The government’s emphasis may remain on good governance, industrial investment, and enhancing welfare schemes for the poor. It is believed that this budget will convey a solid message about maintaining the pace of development while ensuring its benefits reach remote areas.
Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai stated on X, “From good governance to prosperity… the budget lays the foundation for a developed Chhattisgarh. Today, our government’s third budget will be presented in the new assembly. This budget will prove to be a significant step towards achieving our goal of inclusive development.”
