Bhilai, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Raipur has issued a notice to Congress MLA Devendra Yadav from Bhilai Nagar, directing him to appear in a special court on October 5. Yadav, who is serving his second consecutive term, has been named as an accused in a case investigated by the state’s Economic Offenses Wing (EOW).
The notice cites violations under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, specifically sections 7A and 12, as well as various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). These include section 420 (cheating), section 120B (criminal conspiracy), section 384 (extortion), section 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating), section 467 (forgery of valuable security), and section 471 (using a forged document as if it were genuine).
These charges pertain to corruption, criminal conspiracy, forgery, and related offenses. The case, which was registered in 2024, has led to the ACB summoning Yadav to the special court, marking a significant step in the ongoing investigation.
Following the notice, political discussions have intensified in Chhattisgarh. Bhilai Nagar is recognized for its industrial significance and steel industry, making this constituency politically crucial.
Devendra Yadav first won the Bhilai Nagar seat by defeating senior BJP leader Prem Prakash Pandey. He successfully retained his seat in the subsequent elections, solidifying his status as a prominent Congress leader in the region.
In recent years, Yadav has faced multiple criminal cases, keeping his political career under scrutiny. All eyes are now on the upcoming hearing on October 5, where further developments and Yadav’s defense are expected to unfold in Raipur’s special court.
