Under the leadership of captain Chantel Miel, the team topped the league standings after five matches, earning their spot in the championship showdown. The final will take place at Gachibowli Stadium on Tuesday.
Following their advancement to the final, captain Chantel Miel expressed her excitement, stating, “I am thrilled about the final. Last night’s match was incredibly challenging, but securing victory at the last moment is a fantastic result of our hard work over the past few weeks. I am proud to be the first team to reach the final. The team is refreshed and fully prepared for the comeback; we hope to win the final tomorrow.”
Amandeep Kaur from Chennai Bulls added, “We are very happy to reach the final. The entire team is eager to play. Our focus is on our ultimate goal, which has always been to become the first champions of the women’s version of the Rugby Premier League.”
Captain Chantel Miel, vice-captain Adia Pike, Carmen Ijic, and Savannah Bauder have proven their skills as capped international players. Indian players Amandeep Kaur and Sandhya Rani Tudu have consistently delivered outstanding performances, often winning the ‘Player of the Match’ award. Senior team member Sandhya Rai was sidelined early in the season, but this has not hindered Chennai Bulls’ pursuit of their first trophy.
Chennai Bulls had mixed results during the league stage; they drew matches against Delhi Reds and Mumbai Dreamers, suffering only one loss to Kolkata Banga Tigers. Following that, they won three consecutive matches, defeating Delhi Reds, Kolkata Banga Tigers, and Mumbai Dreamers before the final. This impressive performance against strong rivals has significantly boosted the team’s morale ahead of the championship match.
