Mumbai, June 26: Actress Chaitna Pandey is currently in the spotlight for her recently released film ‘Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past’. While her performance has received widespread acclaim, she reveals that she was emotionally shattered during the film’s shooting.
In a recent interview, Chaitna shared that she was mentally distressed, yet she committed herself fully to her role. “When I was asked to play the character of Sunhari, I had no idea how deeply my own life would connect with this role. My life prepared me more for this character than any acting training could,” she explained.
Chaitna continued, “At the time we began filming, I was going through a phase in my life where it was hard to hold myself together. I felt completely broken inside and was struggling mentally.”
She reflected on her experiences, stating, “Over time, I realized that every challenge in life comes for a reason. Difficult situations often prepare us for greater responsibilities and challenges ahead. So, I tried to learn from that phase.”
Chaitna noted that the toughest time in her life coincided with the film’s shooting. “My personal story and Sunhari’s story in the film have many similarities. I didn’t need to create separate emotions while acting; I channeled my own pain, loneliness, and struggles directly into my character. The feelings in my heart were reflected in Sunhari’s expressions and behavior on screen.”
Recalling her excitement about working with director Vikram Bhatt, she said, “When I found out he was directing this film, I was thrilled. Vikram has played a significant role in redefining horror films in Indian cinema. He has created several films that have elevated this genre. ‘Haunted’ was one of those films that left a lasting impact on audiences and is among India’s early three-dimensional horror films, remembered for its story, chilling scenes, and songs.”
Chaitna also shared her thoughts on changing audience preferences today. “People have very little time nowadays, and their attention spans are short. Sometimes, they can’t even finish a short video. In such times, if a film manages to hold a place in people’s hearts for years, it’s a significant achievement.”
‘Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past’ features Chaitna Pandey alongside Mimoh Chakraborty in pivotal roles. The film was released in theaters on June 12, 2026.
