Mumbai, August 28: The controversy surrounding Kriti Sanon’s recent festive jewelry advertisement shows no signs of abating. Opinions are pouring in from all corners. Among those weighing in is actress Priyanka Chopra’s mother, Madhu Chopra, who emphasized the importance of maintaining certain boundaries.
During an event on Thursday, Madhu Chopra spoke to the media, stating, “There should be some limits. My body, my choice, operates within those limits. While it’s good to express oneself, it is crucial to consider how you maintain your dignity and respect the feelings of others. You can do this in places where such expressions are common. It saddens me to see our children adopting these trends. They wear them for work or hobbies, but it’s acceptable in those contexts.”
In light of the escalating controversy, Kriti Sanon had previously responded to trolls, and just a day later, the brand removed the advertisement. Kriti expressed, “We deeply respect Indian culture, traditions, and festivals. As a brand, we have always believed in celebrating these joyous occasions with the entire family, and this time we wanted to extend that love and celebration to our pets as well.”
She further added, “If our recent advertisement unintentionally hurt the sentiments of any community, it was never our intention. Out of respect, we have removed the advertisement from all platforms. Wishing everyone lots of love and positivity this festive season.”
Following her statement, the brand confirmed the removal of the advertisement via social media, reiterating its respect for Indian culture, traditions, and festivals.
In the advertisement, Kriti was seen in an off-white dress featuring a bralette-style blouse, cape, and draped skirt, designed for the Raksha Bandhan festival. On Wednesday, the brand released a statement on Instagram affirming its respect for Indian culture.
