Mumbai, August 28: Former General Secretary of the Cine and TV Artists Association (CINTAA), Upasana Singh, has made serious allegations against the current leadership of the organization. She claims that the association’s platform is being exploited for personal publicity by Poonam Dhillon and Padminee Kolhapure.
In her statements, Upasana Singh highlighted that during significant events, photos featuring other executive members are cropped, leaving only Poonam Dhillon and Padminee Kolhapure in the spotlight. She accused the leadership of selectively using images from meetings with government representatives solely for promotional purposes.
“We only met with ministers. If you check our phones, I can show you numerous pictures of our meetings with ministers. However, only Poonam and Padminee’s photos were published. If another actor’s photo was included, it was cropped out. This also happened with Dilbagh Ji; only his photo would be published. Thus, CINTAA is being used solely for their publicity,” she stated.
Upasana further alleged that CINTAA’s funds were misused for press conferences that favored Poonam Dhillon and Padminee Kolhapure. “Numerous press conferences were held where CINTAA’s funds were utilized, and they received the most attention,” she added.
Referring to a press conference related to the Raj Kapoor Night event, Upasana claimed that executive committee (EC) members were not invited, and only Poonam Dhillon and Padminee Kolhapure attended. “For the Raj Kapoor Night, there was a press conference, and none of our EC members were invited. Only Poonam and Padminee were called,” she explained.
Upasana revealed that she learned about this press conference later through the media and questioned why the other executive members were not informed. She also mentioned a press conference related to veteran actress Hema Malini, alleging that EC members were called at a later time while the conference had already commenced.
“There was a press conference for Hema Malini’s show. EC members were given a time of 3:30 PM, but the conference started at 12:30 PM. When Deepak Parashar arrived at the venue, he knocked on the door, but no one answered,” she recounted.
These allegations come amid rising tensions within CINTAA, following the resignation of 11 executive committee members earlier this month. Eight of these members were elected, including Hemant Pandey, Mukesh Rishi, Sahila Chaddha, Hetal Parmar, Puneet Issar, Vindu Dara Singh, Vikas Verma, and Deepak Parashar. The resignations were accompanied by accusations of poor decision-making and misuse of positions.
