CGTN Survey: Chinas Summer Economy Captivates Global Consumers

Beijing, August 3: Growing interest from foreign tourists in Chinese cities, the rising trend of ‘China Travel’ on social media, and the increasing demand for summer relief products made in China have turned the country’s consumption economy into a global talking point this summer.

According to a global survey conducted by the China Global Television Network (CGTN), 86.1% of respondents believe that China’s summer economy is not just a seasonal shift in the domestic market but also reflects the potential of China’s vast market to strengthen the global economy.

Since the beginning of this year, China has taken several steps to enhance its appeal to international tourists. These include increasing the number of visa-free countries, improving transit visa policies, and facilitating departure and return services. These efforts aim to provide international visitors with a more convenient travel experience and better consumption opportunities in China. The survey revealed that 74.1% of participants expressed a desire to visit China this summer.

One CGTN netizen remarked, “China is not only sharing its development opportunities with the world but also allowing people to witness its achievements up close. These experiences can be beneficial for other countries as well. The new visa policies are certainly attracting more tourists to China.”

The trend of “spontaneous travel to China” is gaining popularity among foreign tourists, thanks to China’s increasing openness. This has boosted consumption in sectors such as hospitality, food, transportation, and shopping. Moreover, it has provided the world with an opportunity to understand China better and experience its development firsthand. The survey found that 89.5% of respondents believe that China is sharing the benefits of its development with an open attitude. Meanwhile, 95.8% stated that China is rapidly transitioning from being the “world’s factory” to the “world’s market,” injecting new momentum into global consumption.

Chinese products that provide relief from the heat, such as air conditioners, fans, ice makers, and sunscreens, are becoming increasingly popular in foreign markets this summer. Significant increases in orders for many products have been recorded, with some areas experiencing such high demand that supply pressures have risen. Chinese companies are strengthening their position in global competition through a robust supply chain, superior product quality, and the ability to quickly understand market needs.

According to the survey, 80.1% of respondents believe that China’s strong industrial system and flexible supply chain enable Chinese companies to quickly identify global climate and consumption needs and tailor products accordingly. Additionally, 91.2% believe that China is becoming a crucial center for testing and developing new global technologies and products due to its large consumer market and diverse usage opportunities.

Furthermore, 88.2% of respondents indicated that China’s summer economy has not only accelerated domestic consumption but also added new energy and stability to the global supply chain and world economy.

This survey was conducted across CGTN’s English, Spanish, French, Arabic, and Russian platforms, with a total of 4,524 netizens participating and sharing their views within 24 hours.
