Beijing, August 3: The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, along with two other departments, has recently announced the release of information regarding the selection of “2026 Energy Efficiency and Carbon Efficiency Leader Enterprises.”
This initiative aims to encourage industrial enterprises to save energy and reduce carbon emissions while promoting green and low-carbon transformations in key industries. This marks the first time China has initiated a selection process for carbon efficiency leader enterprises.
According to the announcement, the scope of energy efficiency leader enterprises in major industries will be expanded. New sub-industries, including industrial sulfuric acid, glacial acetic acid, formaldehyde, styrene, and monocrystalline silicon, will be included. The selection and recommendation scope will extend to 43 sub-industries.
Based on the energy efficiency leader program, a new initiative for selecting carbon efficiency leader enterprises has also been launched. The first phase includes five industries: electrolytic aluminum, cement clinker, synthetic ammonia, ethylene, and methanol.
The announcement has established several basic criteria for energy efficiency and carbon efficiency leader enterprises in key industries. Chen Taji, Deputy Director of the China Electronic Technology Standardization Research Institute, stated that China is rapidly advancing towards dual control of energy consumption and carbon emissions. In this context, the comprehensive selection of energy efficiency and carbon efficiency leader enterprises will play a crucial role in transforming individual efforts into a systematic and coordinated process.
It has been reported that China has released the list of 224 energy efficiency leader enterprises across eight phases, which are linked to 35 sub-industries.
