Mumbai, March 21: Renowned singer Kavita Krishnamurthy, known for her iconic songs like “Aaj Main Upar Aasmaan Neeche,” “Hawa Hawai,” “Mera Piya Ghar Aaya,” and “Pyar Hua Chupke Se,” has made a lasting impact on Bollywood. Her melodies continue to resonate with fans, showcasing her unique artistry and contribution to numerous hit films.

Recently, Kavita celebrated an impressive milestone: 50 years in Bollywood. This remarkable achievement was honored in a special episode of a singing reality show, where she received a delightful surprise from the show’s host and contestants.

In a recently released promo by the channel, host Aditya Narayan presented Kavita with a bat, leaving the judges and contestants puzzled. He later revealed that 2026 marks her 50th year in the industry, a testament to her dedication and talent.

“This industry often sees careers that last less than five years, yet Kavita has thrived for half a century. This is a remarkable feat,” Aditya remarked.

During her appearance on the show, Kavita expressed her joy, stating, “Indian Idol has always been a grand celebration of music. It’s heartwarming to see so many passionate and talented young singers. The contestants infused such honesty and emotion into their performances that it truly touched my heart. Each performance was special in its own right.”

Hailing from a Tamil family, Kavita Krishnamurthy has sung over 50,000 songs in more than 45 languages, including Hindi. She is celebrated for her melodious voice in 90s Hindi cinema. Awarded the Padma Shri in 2005, she has also received four Filmfare Awards. Kavita began her career with the song “Maang Bharo Sajna” in 1980, but it was her rendition of “Hawa Hawai” from the film “Mr. India” (1987) that brought her widespread recognition.
