CBI Launches Investigation into Anti-Drug Activists Murder in Punjab

The CBI has begun investigating the murder of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota, following assurances from Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Chandigarh, October 21 (Daily Kiran) : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has officially commenced an investigation into the murder of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota, as confirmed by Punjab BJP President Kaul Singh Dhillon. This development follows a commitment made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Jhota’s family during a meeting in Mansa on Tuesday.

Dhillon stated that Shah assured the family that the case would be handed over to the CBI. A team from the agency arrived in Mansa the same night to initiate the investigation, which has already led to the registration of a case against the suspects.

Expressing confidence in the CBI, Dhillon emphasized that the agency would conduct a fair and impartial inquiry, complete it promptly, and ensure that those responsible face severe penalties. He reiterated the BJP’s commitment to delivering justice for Jhota and other victims, highlighting the need for accountability and bringing all culprits to justice.

Additionally, Dhillon urged the Punjab government to refer the cases of Gulzar Singh and Bikramjeet Singh to the CBI, similar to Jhota’s case, suggesting that an independent investigation would aid in securing justice for the affected families.

On the broader issue of drug abuse, Dhillon expressed optimism that Shah’s goal of making Punjab drug-free by December 31, 2029, would be achieved. He asserted that under the commitments made by the Union Home Minister, the state would be liberated from the scourge of addiction. Supporting the demands raised by Jhota’s family and the struggle committee, Dhillon also called for the resignation of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, accusing the Aam Aadmi Party-led government of failing to manage governance, curb drug abuse, and maintain law and order in the state.
