BJP Leader Criticizes Punjab Government for Excluding Parvinder Singh Jhota from Tribute List

Manjinder Singh Sirsa slams Punjab government for omitting Parvinder Singh Jhota from the tribute list, questioning their commitment to drug issues.

Chandigarh, October 21 (Daily Kiran) : Manjinder Singh Sirsa, a BJP leader and minister in the Delhi government, has voiced strong criticism against the Bhagwant Mann government of Punjab. His remarks came after the proposed tribute list for October 22, 2026, excluded Parvinder Singh Jhota. Sirsa accused the government of deliberately omitting Jhota, who has been recognized as a martyr by the Akal Takht.

In a post on the social media platform X, Sirsa questioned the rationale behind removing Jhota’s name from the list. He suggested that Jhota’s only “fault” was his vocal opposition to the drug mafia and his efforts to protect Punjab’s youth from addiction.

Sirsa further alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party and its leadership are unable to accept those who fight against drug trafficking. He asserted that while Jhota’s name might be erased from official documents, it will never be forgotten in the hearts of the people of Punjab.

The BJP leader also raised concerns about the government’s apparent support for elements associated with drug trafficking over honoring a martyr. He emphasized that the sentiments of the people of Punjab should be respected, and those combating addiction deserve proper recognition.

Sirsa’s comments come in the wake of a recent visit by Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Punjab, where he met families affected by the drug crisis and gang violence. BJP leaders have interpreted Shah’s visit as a sign of the central government‘s firm stance against the drug mafia and organized crime in the state.

Previously, Sirsa had claimed that increasing pressure from the central government led the Punjab government to announce CBI investigations in certain cases. He reiterated that the BJP will continue its campaign to rid Punjab of drugs and seek justice for affected families.
