Captain Veerendra Vishwakarma Stranded in Hormuz Strait, Wife Appeals for Safe Return

Mumbai, March 13: Amid rising tensions between Iran and the U.S.-Israel, Captain Veerendra Vishwakarma from Dahisar East, Mumbai, is stranded with his LPG tanker. His wife, Nilpa, expressed her concerns about the global situation and appealed to the Indian government for assistance.

Captain Vishwakarma has been stuck near Mina Saqar Port in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, since March 2, due to the closure of the Hormuz Strait, which has left over 200 vessels stranded. Nilpa Vishwakarma is extremely anxious in Mumbai.

In a conversation with reporters, she stated, “My husband’s ship is trapped in the Persian Gulf, along with 33 crew members. They have been stuck since March 2 due to the closure of the Hormuz Strait. Drones and missiles are flying above their ship. I am very scared and continuously praying for their safe return home.”

Nilpa has urged the government to ensure the safe return of all Indian sailors and ships as soon as possible.

She added, “The company is supporting them and has provided two months’ worth of food. However, no one can leave until the strait reopens. There are 200-250 ships stuck. Until the issue is resolved, the atmosphere remains tense. I implore my government to bring everyone back safely as soon as possible.”

Captain Vishwakarma’s ship was en route to India after loading LPG from Qatar but was halted due to escalating conflicts in the region.

Following attacks by the U.S.-Israel on Iran, shipping traffic in the Hormuz Strait has nearly come to a standstill, impacting global shipping. The Indian government is monitoring the situation closely.

According to sources, Iran has allowed Indian-flagged tankers to pass safely, and some vessels have already made it through. India has engaged in diplomatic discussions with Iran to ensure the safe evacuation of Indian ships and sailors.
