Canton Fair Celebrates 70 Years of Trade and Innovation

The Canton Fair marks its 70th anniversary, showcasing significant growth in trade and exhibition space over the decades.

Beijing, October 18 (Daily Kiran) : The Canton Fair in Beijing is commemorating its 70th anniversary this year, coinciding with the launch of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan. Since its inception, the fair has expanded dramatically—from an exhibition area of just 9,600 square meters to an impressive 1.55 million square meters today. The number of buyers has also surged, growing from 1,200 at the start to over 300,000 this year.

Recognized as the longest-running, largest, and most successful international trade fair in China, it has earned the title of “China’s No. 1 exhibition” on a global scale. In a congratulatory letter for this year’s event, Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the fair’s crucial role in enhancing trade between China and other countries. He noted that it has become an effective platform for promoting high-level openness in China and advancing the construction of an open world economy.

This year’s first phase of the fair focuses on advanced manufacturing, showcasing the latest achievements across five key sectors: electronics and home appliances, industrial manufacturing, lighting and electrical equipment, hardware tools, and vehicles and motorcycles. The Canton Fair, rooted in the spirit of openness, has blossomed into a vital window for the world to view China.

Through this platform, the international community not only witnesses the immense vitality of the Chinese economy and its industrial upgrades but also recognizes China’s steadfast determination and efforts to achieve mutual benefits and win-win outcomes with the world.
