Canada asserts that Iran is supplying weapons and drones to various countries and groups, exacerbating warfare and instability. As a result, Canada will continue to take stringent actions against such activities.
Minister Anand emphasized that Canada stands with the Iranian people who are demanding their rights and freedoms. She stated that these sanctions specifically aim at Iranian businessmen and firms directly involved in networks that support the production and transfer of advanced technology for the IRGC’s weaponry.
She noted that Iran’s transfer of arms, drones, and technology promotes armed conflict, jeopardizes the sovereignty of other nations, and violates international norms. This includes its proxy networks and its support for Russia, which utilizes these drones and weapons in its aggressive campaign against Ukraine.
Anand conveyed that these actions send a clear and firm message. Canada will act against those contributing to Iran’s destabilizing activities and will not tolerate actions that undermine regional and global peace and security.
