New Delhi, June 8: The Indian team selected for the upcoming tour of Ireland and England includes four fast bowlers, among whom is the promising Prince Yadav. After impressing in the ODI series against Afghanistan, Prince has successfully gained the selectors’ confidence for the T20 format. However, a significant question remains: will Prince secure a place in the playing XI throughout the tour? If the team management decides to include him, who will be left out?
Jasprit Bumrah has been rested for the Ireland-England series, which means Mohammad Siraj will lead the pace attack. He will be supported by Arshdeep Singh, who is already part of the squad. Additionally, Harshit Rana has returned to full fitness and is back in the team. The management has shown considerable faith in Harshit, who can contribute significantly with both bat and ball. This raises doubts about Prince’s chances of making it into the playing XI.
During IPL 2026, Prince played for the Lucknow Super Giants, taking 16 wickets in 14 matches. He caught everyone’s attention when he clean bowled Virat Kohli with a stunning delivery. Before the T20 matches, Prince might get an opportunity in the ODI against Afghanistan, and his performance in this 50-over format could determine his inclusion in the final XI for the Ireland and England tour.
Prince’s path to the playing XI appears challenging, especially with Nitish Kumar Reddy and Shivam Dube also included in the T20 squad, both of whom can contribute with bat and ball. If the team management is highly impressed with Prince’s abilities, his best chance of playing may only come in the match against Ireland, as India is scheduled to play just two T20 matches against them.
This raises the question: was it wise to include Prince in the squad for this tour? The selectors had the option to send him to play for India A against Sri Lanka, where he would have had more opportunities to showcase his skills on the field.
