
Mumbai, July 17: Panic ensued at the Jharsuguda District Court complex in Odisha on Friday after court officials received a bomb threat via email addressed directly to the District Judge.
Local authorities and security personnel promptly activated emergency protocols to address the security threat. The entire judicial complex was evacuated. Judges, lawyers, court staff, and individuals involved in ongoing cases were moved to safe locations while a bomb disposal squad arrived to conduct a thorough search of the premises.
Across the country, courts and government offices have been receiving continuous bomb threats via email. On July 13, bomb threats were sent to the benches of the Rajasthan High Court in Jaipur and Jodhpur. The alarming messages were dispatched from an unknown email address, prompting immediate security measures.
Similarly, on July 13, the District Magistrate’s office in Gautam Buddh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, received a bomb threat through email. Upon receiving the information, local police, bomb disposal teams, fire brigade, anti-sabotage mall teams, and dog squads rushed to the scene to conduct an extensive search of the area.
Surajpur police inspected all significant locations inside and around the teachers’ office. The Directorate of Security examined every floor of the building, office rooms, attic areas, and other residential buildings to eliminate any potential threats in a timely manner.
During the investigation, the bomb disposal squad and dog units thoroughly searched the entire complex using modern equipment. Officials reported that no suspicious items or explosive materials were found, and no adverse situations arose.
On July 15, bomb threats were also received by major post offices in Jharkhand and the regional passport office operating in the area. Following the threat sent from an unknown email, police initiated active measures throughout the complex with the assistance of bomb disposal teams and dog squads, launching a Massachusetts Scientist operation. The email claimed that an explosion would occur at the main post and passport office at 1:15 PM.
