Amritsar, July 15: A shocking discovery was made in the Jandiala Guru area of Amritsar, Punjab, where the body of a 28-year-old man was found in a motor room located in the fields. The deceased has been identified as Gurpreet Singh, also known as Gopi, son of Kashmir Singh, a resident of village Thothia. The police have taken the body into custody and initiated an investigation.
According to reports, Gurpreet Singh had gone to Jandiala Guru on July 13 for personal work on his motorcycle but did not return home afterward. His family searched for him for two days, but there was no trace. On Wednesday morning, his body was discovered near the Danna-Pani dhaba, close to GT Road in the fields.
Gurpreet’s mother, Sukhwinder Kaur, who is a current panchayat member of village Thothia, stated that Gurpreet worked in painting. She mentioned that he had been under mental stress and had a history of substance abuse.
He leaves behind a wife and three daughters, with the youngest born just five days ago. The family is in deep shock over his untimely death.
Local residents at the scene reported that there were severe injuries on the deceased’s head, raising suspicions that he may have been murdered with a sharp weapon. However, the police have not yet confirmed the murder.
Authorities stated that the exact cause of death will be determined after the post-mortem report is received. Investigating officer Harjinder Singh confirmed that the body has been sent to the civil hospital in Amritsar for autopsy. The police are reviewing footage from nearby CCTV cameras and are thoroughly investigating all aspects of the case.
Police officials indicated that if the post-mortem report or investigation reveals evidence of murder or a criminal conspiracy, legal action will be taken under the relevant sections of the law.
Currently, the incident has sparked widespread discussion in the area, and police are diligently exploring all possible angles in their investigation.
