Bengaluru, September 1: A tragic car accident on National Highway 4 near Venkatpur village in Karnataka’s Dharwad taluk resulted in the deaths of three individuals early Tuesday morning. Three others sustained serious injuries in the incident.
The deceased have been identified as K.U. Vinayak (25), Manjunath (29), and Basavaraj (34), all residents of Davanagere district. Reports indicate they were in Dharwad for work-related purposes.
Preliminary information suggests that the victims had finished their work and were dining at a roadside eatery on the outskirts of the city before heading back to Dharwad. The accident occurred around 2:30 AM when a truck suddenly appeared in front of their car. In an attempt to avoid a collision, the driver, Basavanagouda, slammed on the brakes, causing him to lose control of the vehicle. The car then crashed into the road divider and overturned.
Tragically, all three passengers died at the scene, while the driver and two others were seriously injured and rushed to the Dharwad District Hospital for treatment. Officials from the local Garag police station arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation into the accident.
Notably, on August 28, a similar incident in Tumakuru district’s Chikkanayakanahalli taluk resulted in the deaths of four people, including a three-year-old girl. The victims were identified as Anil (32) and Vivek (31) from Chikkanayakanahalli, along with Dawood Pasha and his daughter Anam from Turuvekere.
According to police, that accident occurred when a car coming from Turuvekere collided with a Volkswagen vehicle traveling from Chikkanayakanahalli. The impact was so severe that both cars were extensively damaged.
In a separate incident on Monday in northern Bengaluru, two individuals lost their lives in different road accidents. The first victim, 68-year-old R.A. Babu from Kaval Bairasandra, died when a garbage truck collided with his motorcycle around 9:30 AM near Goraguntepalya. Babu was en route to CMT when the speeding truck hit him, causing him to lose control and fall under the truck’s wheels.
In another incident, 38-year-old vendor Mahesh from Goraguntepalya died when his motorcycle crashed into a stationary truck on the Peenya flyover around 3:30 PM. Mahesh was heading to Dasanapura market to sell lemons.
