Mumbai, August 18: As the 2027 assembly elections approach, the BJP has announced its new team under national president Nitin Naveen. This team includes workers, leaders, and former ministers from states where elections are set to occur. While new faces have been introduced, the party has also reposed trust in several familiar figures.
Congress leader Hussain Dalwai from Maharashtra criticized the formation of this new team, questioning its effectiveness. He remarked, “What is the benefit of creating a new team when the major decisions are still made by the old guard?”
In a discussion in Mumbai, Dalwai pointed out that although Nitin Naveen is a new face, the decision-making power remains concentrated in the hands of the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister. He expressed concern over the lack of clarity regarding the roles of senior leaders within the party.
Dalwai also raised questions about the SIR (Special Investigation Report), alleging that it aims to exclude certain individuals from the electoral process, particularly those perceived as unlikely to support the ruling party. He described this as an attempt to undermine the democratic system, promoting the idea of “one party, one nation, one culture, one religion.”
Regarding the ongoing debate over “Vande Mataram,” Dalwai stated that unnecessary tensions are being created. He noted that while singing the full anthem at a government event is one thing, it should not be mandatory for every individual. This issue transcends any single religion or community, highlighting the secular character of the nation.
On the demands for Congress leader Sonia Gandhi to apologize, he remarked that those who have never hoisted the national flag at their offices should be the ones seeking forgiveness.
Dalwai also questioned the SIT report related to the Ram Temple case, suggesting that the outcome was predictable from the outset. He accused the investigation of lacking independence and claimed that the report was an attempt to suppress the matter, labeling it as fraudulent.
In response to comments made by U.S. President Donald Trump, Dalwai emphasized the significant contributions of Indians to America’s development. He expressed concern that the act Trump referred to would lead to large-scale actions against immigrants, which he deemed a regrettable situation.
