Kolkata, October 30 (Daily Kiran) : A fire broke out on the 28th floor of the South City Residential Complex in Kolkata on the morning of October 30, 2026. Fire officials dispatched eight fire engines to the scene to combat the blaze.
Authorities reported that the fire started in an apartment on the 28th floor of Tower 3. Following the incident, emergency services were quickly mobilized, and they have largely brought the fire under control. Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries.
Fire department officials received notification of the fire around 8 a.m. and sent multiple fire engines to the location. Additional units were later deployed to ensure complete extinguishment of the flames.
Eyewitnesses described thick black smoke billowing from the affected flat, causing panic among residents of the large housing complex situated near South City Mall.
As the fire crews worked, local security personnel and residents attempted to contain the flames before the firefighters arrived. The fire brigade launched a significant operation to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent areas.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, and officials have not yet assessed the extent of the damage. However, they confirmed that all residents were evacuated safely and that no one was trapped inside the building.
