BJP Spokesperson Questions Impact of Congress-SP Alliance in Uttar Pradesh Elections

Ranchi, August 26: In a recent statement regarding the Congress-Samajwadi Party (SP) alliance for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, BJP spokesperson Pratul Shah Dev expressed skepticism about its potential impact. He questioned whether the collaboration of “two defeated royal heirs” would make any difference to the BJP’s standing. Shah Dev emphasized that the people of Uttar Pradesh have faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and praised the effective delivery mechanism of the Yogi government.

On the topic of Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh receiving parole, Shah Dev stated that the police consider multiple factors before granting parole, which is then approved by the court. He remarked, “This is a court process; what can we comment on it?”

Addressing the rising prices of onions and sugar, he attributed the increase to artificial inflation caused by traders. Shah Dev noted that this year’s Kharif production is expected to be 5-7% lower, which may lead to a decrease in onion production. However, he assured that there is a sufficient stock of onions in the country.

It is noteworthy that Gurmeet Ram Rahim has been granted parole for the 17th time in six years. He was convicted by a CBI court in Panchkula in August 2017 for a rape case, which included a sentence and a fine. In 2019, a special CBI court found him guilty of the murder of a journalist in Haryana’s Sirsa in 2002, sentencing him to life imprisonment along with three other co-defendants.

Between October 24, 2020, and August 25, 2026, Gurmeet Ram Rahim has been released on parole for a total of 40 days.
