New Delhi, April 5: BJP spokesperson Shahzad Poonawala has sharply criticized the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government following an incident in Malda, West Bengal. He accused the ruling party of fostering a state of “Maha-Jungle Raj.”
Speaking to reporters, Poonawala stated, “The Malda incident is a clear example of the chaos under TMC’s ‘Maha-Jungle Raj.’ Women, land, and ordinary citizens are not safe there. Only powerful, influential, and corrupt criminals feel secure.” He highlighted that judicial officials were taken hostage during the incident, and a female judicial officer pleaded for her children’s safety, fearing for their lives and potential assault.
Poonawala emphasized that this incident underscores the complete breakdown of law and order in West Bengal, raising serious concerns about the safety of women and the judicial system.
He also targeted Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, who referred to the people of Gujarat as “uneducated” during an election rally in Kerala. Poonawala remarked, “Kharge can oppose the BJP and Prime Minister Modi, but disrespecting Gujarat and Northern India in the process is unacceptable. While he may have differences with the BJP and Modi, disparaging Gujarat and Northern India cannot be justified.”
Furthermore, Poonawala criticized other Congress leaders for suggesting a division between North and South India, labeling it a dangerous mindset against national unity.
He expressed displeasure over remarks made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Poonawala pointed out that Gandhi is currently out on bail in a corruption case and his derogatory comments about Assam reflect a lack of respect for the people of Assam and the entire Northeast region. He urged the opposition to refrain from insulting states and their cultures, even amidst political disagreements.
