New Delhi, August 2: The Delhi BJP President, Harsh Malhotra, criticized Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), for making baseless statements about technical issues, including E-20 fuel, despite being an IIT graduate.
Malhotra stated, “Since 2010, the country has repeatedly heard Kejriwal claim that he is an IT graduate. However, his comments on E-20 and various technical matters suggest that he may not even have received ITI-level education.”
Kejriwal’s recent town hall speech regarding E-20 has raised serious questions about his claimed academic qualifications once again.
The Delhi BJP President accused Kejriwal of deliberately spreading misinformation about E-20 or ethanol-blended petrol. He reiterated his earlier challenge, stating that in a country with millions of vehicles, Kejriwal should present at least 100 vehicles that have been damaged or had engine failures due to E-20 fuel.
Malhotra remarked that instead of engaging in political propaganda, Kejriwal could have simply searched on Google to discover that the increasing use of E-20 fuel has improved Delhi’s air quality by nearly 30 percent.
He further noted that Kejriwal has failed to understand that India spends over ₹16 lakh crore annually on fuel imports. According to estimates from the NITI Aayog, the rising use of ethanol is expected to save approximately ₹1 lakh crore in foreign currency within the year. Additionally, the increased use of ethanol is projected to boost the income of sugarcane farmers by around ₹50,000 crore.
Malhotra concluded that if Kejriwal had genuinely received an education from IIT, he would never oppose ethanol-blended petrol, which contributes to national economic savings, increases farmers’ income, and provides citizens with cleaner air.
