Bayern Munich Dominates Magdeburg 6-1 in German Cup Clash

Bayern Munich secured a 6-1 victory over Magdeburg in the German Cup, showcasing impressive performances, including two goals from Michael Olise.

Munich, October 29 (Daily Kiran) : Bayern Munich showcased their dominance in the German Cup, defeating second-division team Magdeburg 6-1 in a thrilling match. The game, held on October 29, featured a strong challenge from Magdeburg in the first half, but Bayern’s resilience shone through as they secured a convincing win.

Michael Olise was the standout performer, scoring two goals and assisting another. Although Bayern’s manager, Vincent Kompany, was absent due to a recent hospitalization, assistant coach Aaron Danks led the team effectively. Star striker Harry Kane was rested after winning the Ballon d’Or.

Bayern started the match with intensity. In the 10th minute, Leonhart Karl passed to Ismail Sabari, who set up Olise for the opening goal. Just five minutes later, Magdeburg responded with a goal from Mateusz Żukowski, whose long-range shot deflected off Hiroki Ito, leaving goalkeeper Jonas Urbig helpless.

In the 21st minute, Bayern regained the lead when Olise assisted Sabari, who cleverly lobbed the ball over advancing goalkeeper Dominic Reimann. Despite Bayern’s dominance in possession, Magdeburg continued to apply pressure with counterattacks. Just before halftime, Baris Atik hit the post, and Felipe Chaves missed the rebound opportunity.

After the break, Danks substituted in Alphonso Davies, which had an immediate impact. A foul on Davies in the penalty area led to a penalty kick, which Olise converted in the 50th minute, doubling Bayern’s lead.

Magdeburg attempted to push forward but gradually lost control of the match. Reimann saved a shot from Karl, but Bayern scored three more goals in the final moments. In the 70th minute, substitute Alexander Pavlovic assisted Karl, allowing Davies to score from close range. Three minutes later, Davies set up Nathaniel Brown, who found the net from inside the penalty area. Finally, David Santos Daiber capped off the scoring with a powerful shot during stoppage time.

After the match, Brown expressed the team’s determination, stating, “We want to win every match, no matter the opponent. We aimed for this cup victory, performed well, and deserved the win. Now, our full focus is on Saturday’s match.”

Bayern Munich’s next challenge will be against Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga, while the draw for the Round of 16 in the German Cup will take place on November 1. Other notable results include Dynamo Dresden’s 2-0 win over Schalke, Holstein Kiel’s victory over Hoffenheim in a penalty shootout, and Freiburg’s 3-2 win against Wolfsburg.
