Sudden Weather Change Hits Delhi-NCR; Heavy Rain and Yellow Alert Issued

Delhi-NCR experiences sudden weather changes with heavy rain and a Yellow Alert issued for severe thunderstorms.

New Delhi, October 29 (Daily Kiran) : Residents of Delhi-NCR are experiencing a sudden shift in weather as heavy rainfall began early Thursday morning. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a significant update for October 29, warning of thunderstorms and heavy rain throughout the day. Authorities have advised the public to remain vigilant.

According to the local weather report from IMD, the maximum temperature is expected to reach 27 degrees Celsius, while the minimum will drop to 17 degrees Celsius. Humidity levels will range between 65% and 95%, with the sky predominantly overcast. A special ‘Yellow Alert’ has been issued, indicating varying weather conditions throughout the day.

In the morning, light to moderate rain is anticipated, accompanied by thunderstorms and winds gusting at 40-50 km/h. By afternoon, the rain and storms will persist, with winds slowing to 30-40 km/h. This pattern is expected to continue into the evening, with similar conditions forecasted.

Looking ahead to October 30, more thunderstorms and rain are expected, with temperatures ranging from 28 to 18 degrees Celsius. On October 31, the weather is predicted to improve slightly, with partly cloudy skies and temperatures between 29 and 19 degrees. The weather will remain mostly clear from November 1 to November 2, with temperatures potentially reaching 30 degrees.

Despite the rain, air quality in Delhi-NCR remains a concern, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) still classified as ‘poor’ to ‘very poor.’ Mundka recorded the worst AQI at 344, while Najafgarh, Nangloi, and Narela also reported high levels of pollution. In Noida, sector-wise readings show similarly poor air quality, with sector-62 at 276 and sector-125 at 267.

The weather department indicates that the anticipated rainfall could help reduce airborne pollution particles, potentially improving air quality for residents in Delhi and Noida.
