Tamil Nadu: DVAC Raids Residence of Former Minister K.N. Nehru

The DVAC has conducted a raid on former Tamil Nadu minister K.N. Nehrus residence amid corruption allegations.

Tiruchirappalli, October 29 (Daily Kiran) : In a significant move, the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) launched a raid on the residence of former Tamil Nadu minister and DMK leader K.N. Nehru in Tiruchirappalli on the morning of October 29. The operation is linked to allegations of irregularities in the recruitment of employees within the urban administration and water supply departments, with claims of bribes amounting to approximately ₹634 crores.

More than 15 DVAC officials arrived in three Bolero vehicles and conducted searches at both Nehru’s home and office premises in Thillai Nagar. To ensure security during the operation, additional police forces were deployed at the entrance of the residence.

This raid comes just days before the wedding of Nehru’s nephew, creating a stir in political circles. The timing of the operation has caused considerable distress among family members and relatives, as preparations for the wedding were already underway.

Officials are currently examining documents and verifying evidence gathered during the raid. An official statement regarding the seized items and further details about the case is expected once the search concludes.

Previously, on September 5, the DVAC conducted searches at 19 locations associated with K.N. Nehru and his brother, Ravichandran.
