BJP Leader Yasir Jilani Criticizes Congress Over Kerala Kitchen Controversy
Yasir Jilani condemns Congress for its stance on the Kerala kitchen controversy while praising government efforts to repatriate Umrah pilgrims.

New Delhi, October 23 (Daily Kiran) : BJP leader Yasir Jilani has taken aim at the Congress party regarding the controversy surrounding the vegetarian kitchen at the Kerala Lok Bhavan. He also addressed issues such as the return of Umrah pilgrims to India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for unity, India’s response to Pakistan at the United Nations, and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla’s comments on the notice for the removal of the Chief Election Commissioner.
Jilani accused Congress of raising unnecessary issues and engaging in politics of appeasement. He emphasized that if someone prefers a vegetarian diet and wishes to maintain a vegetarian kitchen, Congress should focus on more significant matters instead. He pointed out that the decision regarding the kitchen was made by the Governor within his jurisdiction. Targeting Congress leader K.C. Venugopal, Jilani claimed that the party is more concerned about its Muslim vote bank and appeasement politics. He argued that by turning such matters into political disputes, Congress invites scrutiny.
Supporting Prime Minister Modi’s appeal for societal unity against divisive forces, Jilani stated that the Prime Minister’s message is entirely valid. He accused certain individuals of attempting to spread chaos under the guise of protests. Criticizing the opposition, including Rahul Gandhi, Jilani noted that they are trying to strengthen their political position by relying on the youth. He asserted that the opposition lacks sufficient public support and a robust organization, which leads them to attempt societal polarization.
Jilani urged society to remain vigilant against such forces and to question their intentions. He affirmed that the public supports Modi’s call for unity.
Regarding the return of Umrah pilgrims, Jilani praised the central government’s efforts, commending Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju. He highlighted that many Indian pilgrims were stranded in Jeddah and the Gulf region due to security threats. The government has facilitated their safe return, with approximately 3,000 pilgrims having already returned to India. The Indian embassy is monitoring the situation of other stranded travelers, and the government is committed to ensuring their safe repatriation. Jilani congratulated Rijiju for the timely assistance, emphasizing that aiding citizens in distress is the government’s responsibility.
On India’s response to Pakistan at the United Nations, Jilani remarked that Pakistan attempts to sway global sentiments by raising religion-based issues on international platforms. He noted that while India faces terrorist incursions and attacks affecting lives and social harmony, Pakistan avoids discussing these topics. He asserted that India is firmly presenting its stance at the UN and exposing Pakistan’s role to the international community.
Regarding Om Birla’s comments on the notice for the removal of the Chief Election Commissioner, Jilani clarified that the matter follows a defined legal process. He stated that the Lok Sabha Speaker has expressed his views, and now the relevant parties should await further actions as per the procedure. He advised those questioning the government’s silence on the issue to exercise patience until the situation is clarified.
