Srinagar, February 22: BJP leader and opposition head in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, Sunil Sharma, has accused the Omar Abdullah-led National Conference (NC) government of deceiving unemployed youth by outsourcing approximately 23,000 jobs instead of conducting regular recruitment.
Speaking to reporters at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar after a BJP joining program, Sharma claimed that the NC government has undermined the hopes of unemployed youth in the Union Territory.
“The NC government has shattered the dreams of unemployed youth. They must withdraw this order or face the wrath of the youth,” Sharma stated.
He further alleged that the Abdullah government had outsourced nearly 23,000 positions instead of filling them through a transparent recruitment process. “This is a significant betrayal of the youth of Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.
To support his claims, Sharma referenced a written response provided by the government in the Assembly, which indicated that a total of 22,886 posts had been outsourced in the last two years.
Sharma emphasized that the BJP will continue to raise this issue and hold the government accountable, especially regarding employment matters. He also claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ensured security and stability in the region, creating opportunities for youth, but accused the current government of failing to provide genuine job opportunities.
He further alleged that political families, including the Abdullahs and Muftis, have misled the public in the past and attempted to diminish support for the BJP. “Now, youth and political activists are joining the BJP in large numbers, reflecting the party’s growing acceptance in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
When asked about PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti’s comments on the India-US trade deal, Sharma remarked that she should focus on issues affecting the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “Instead of questioning the government here about employment and youth-related issues, she is targeting Delhi. She should raise concerns that impact the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he concluded.
