New Delhi, May 17: In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for citizens to reduce fuel consumption amid the ongoing global energy crisis caused by conflicts in West Asia, the BJP has launched a nationwide campaign titled ‘My India, My Contribution’ on Sunday.
This awareness initiative aims to inspire citizens to prioritize national interests, conserve energy, and adopt a simpler lifestyle by changing their daily habits. Under this initiative, party leaders and workers will respond to the Prime Minister’s appeal and incorporate these principles into party programs.
Additionally, citizens across the country will be encouraged to avoid purchasing gold, postpone unnecessary foreign travel, and support ‘indigenous’ products. PM Modi, along with several central ministers, chief ministers, and various administrative departments of both central and state governments, has begun implementing measures to save fuel.
Many ministers and leaders have heeded PM Modi’s call by opting for alternatives such as metro travel and electric vehicles, while also reducing the size of their convoys in an effort to promote fuel conservation and energy-saving methods.
In NDA-ruled states, leaders have significantly reduced the size of their convoys following the Prime Minister’s appeal. The public and party members are being encouraged to increase the use of carpooling, metro, and public transport, with a recommendation to avoid using private cars at least one day a week.
To further reduce fuel and electricity consumption, there is an emphasis on utilizing online or virtual meetings and implementing ‘work from home’ policies one to two days a week.
The BJP offices nationwide have set a target to cut electricity and fuel consumption by up to 50 percent. Citizens are also called upon to reduce their consumption of cooking oil by 10 percent. Furthermore, there is a request to halve the use of chemical fertilizers and promote natural and organic farming methods.
Instructions have been issued to limit the number of attendees at welcome events and to restrict the number of vehicles in leaders’ convoys. This nationwide response from political leaders comes at a time when rising geopolitical tensions and ongoing conflicts in West Asia have heightened concerns regarding global fuel supply and energy security.
