BJP Criticizes Congresss Proposed Peoples Impeachment at Kharges Residence

The BJP denounces the Congresss Peoples Impeachment initiative, calling it a mockery of democracy and a political stunt.

New Delhi, October 30 (Daily Kiran) : Political tensions are escalating in New Delhi as the Congress party prepares for a ‘People’s Impeachment’ event at the residence of its president, Mallikarjun Kharge. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has condemned the initiative, labeling it a mockery of democracy and a mere political spectacle.

BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal launched a sharp attack on Congress and its allies, stating, “Whenever Parliament is in session, these individuals spend 40 days protesting outside, obstructing the functioning of the House. In a democracy, the ruling party, the opposition, and the President collectively contribute to the Parliament.”

He specifically targeted Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi, remarking, “As an opposition MP, you fail to voice a single word in Parliament. Everything you wish to say is expressed at Kharge’s residence, as you know that raising issues in the Lok Sabha would require you to hear responses. Those responses often leave you with no choice but to exit in humiliation. This is why they are staging this drama.”

Jaiswal further stated, “If your concerns are legitimate, raise them in the Lok Sabha. Instead, you boycott the House for 40 days and then hold a ‘mock parliament‘ when sessions are not in progress. This indicates how intimidated you are by the ruling party’s MPs, avoiding discussions on these matters because you know that your arguments will be thoroughly dismantled.”

BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal also questioned the legitimacy of the event, asserting, “Through this mock parliament, they aim to ridicule democracy. It has no legal standing and is merely a political stunt to sustain their ambitions.”

In Mumbai, BJP leader Ram Kadam emphasized that impeachment is a serious constitutional process that should not be trivialized. He suggested, “If you have objections, approach the judiciary or submit evidence to the Election Commission. You speak of ballot papers, yet Congress secured only one seat in the elections for 28 seats in the legislative council across four states.”

Kadam noted, “Whether elections are held via EVMs or ballot papers, you lose and then blame the Election Commission. The BJP faced a nationwide defeat in 1984, winning only two seats. We didn’t blame the Election Commission or stage an impeachment farce. Such theatrics will not yield political victories. If there is evidence, Kharge should present it.”

In Patna, BJP spokesperson Guru Prakash Paswan criticized the situation, stating, “This is a joke. Democracy operates on public respect, and the Constitution upholds legal norms. The propaganda of falsehoods is unfortunate.”

He added, “Recently, senior Congress leader Satish Jarkiholi acknowledged that the SIR is valid. The Supreme Court has repeatedly affirmed that SIR is a constitutional process. Misleading claims about 13 crore names being removed have been debunked, revealing that 2.8 crore individuals were found deceased, over 5 crore had updated addresses, and more than 2 crore were unreliable.”

Paswan concluded, “It is clear that these false and baseless narratives are being propagated. The public understands that these individuals are more concerned about regaining power than addressing real issues.”
