Mumbai, May 11: Rajya Sabha MP Rekha Sharma has asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will triumph in the municipal elections. She responded to comments made by Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav regarding Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and statements from AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi.
Sharma stated that there is a wave of support for the BJP. Although voter turnout in Panchkula is currently low, she claimed that 90 percent of the votes cast so far are for the BJP. Efforts are underway to encourage more people to vote. She urged citizens to recognize that voting is not just a right but also a responsibility.
Commenting on the political changes in West Bengal, she expressed optimism that good days are ahead for the state under a BJP government. She criticized previous administrations for leaving Bengal in a backward state, asserting that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, the region will progress like other states.
Sharma also took a jab at Akhilesh Yadav’s remarks about EVMs, questioning whether he wishes to return to the days of vote theft and ballot box tampering. She emphasized that the nation is moving forward, not backward, and dismissed any notion of reverting to primitive times. She highlighted that today’s era is defined by artificial intelligence, contrasting it with Yadav’s outdated views.
In response to Owaisi’s claims of the BJP being anti-Muslim, Sharma refuted these allegations. She clarified that the BJP opposes those Muslims who do not align with the nation. She cited instances where some Muslims express discontent over issues like gas cylinder shortages, suggesting they would prefer to migrate to Bangladesh instead of addressing their grievances constructively.
