
New Delhi, May 5: Following a resounding victory in West Bengal, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is accelerating preparations for the formation of a new government. In this context, the party has appointed Union Home Minister Amit Shah as the central observer for West Bengal.
Additionally, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Chandra Majhi has been designated as the co-observer. This information was shared through a press release by Arun Singh, the BJP’s National General Secretary. The release stated that the BJP’s parliamentary board has appointed Amit Shah as the central observer for the election of the leader of the party’s legislative assembly in West Bengal. Mohan Chandra Majhi will assist him as the co-observer.
Together, Amit Shah and CM Majhi will oversee the legislative assembly meeting and the leadership selection process in the state.
Notably, the BJP is set to form the government in West Bengal for the first time, following a historic performance. According to the Election Commission, the BJP secured 207 seats, while Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress (TMC) won 80 seats. Additionally, the Congress party won two seats, and the CPI(M) secured one.
Furthermore, the BJP has appointed Union Minister JP Nadda as the central observer for the election of the leader of the legislative assembly in Assam. Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini has been appointed as the co-observer.
In Assam, the BJP has achieved a hat-trick of victories in the assembly elections. The NDA coalition won 102 out of 126 assembly seats. The BJP alone secured 82 seats, while its allies, the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) and the Assam Gana Parishad (AGP), won 10 seats each. The Congress party managed to win 19 seats.
