Bihars Patna Graduate Elections: Anuj Singh Focuses on Educated Representation Amid Triangular Contest

In Patnas upcoming graduate elections, Anuj Singh emphasizes educated representation and key issues over caste politics.

Patna, October 20 (Daily Kiran) : The elections for eight seats in the Bihar Legislative Council are heating up, particularly in the Patna graduate constituency. Candidates from various parties are intensifying their campaigns. Anuj Singh, the candidate from Jan Suraj, is focusing on educated representation, the challenges faced by unemployed graduates, and essential infrastructure, rather than caste dynamics or political maneuvering.

Singh believes he faces no significant challenges in this election and predicts a decisive victory. He urges voters to support a candidate with a background in education to effectively address the issues facing graduates. “If any of our peers remain unemployed despite registering, we should discuss unemployment benefits,” he stated. Singh also highlighted the need for free coaching and improved library facilities for graduate youth in each district and sub-district headquarters. He assured that, if elected, he would prioritize these issues in the council.

Regarding ongoing discussions about caste dynamics, Singh mentioned his outreach to backward, extremely backward, Mahadalit, minority, and upper caste communities. He noted that voters are educated and not beholden to any party, indicating they would vote based on their understanding and preferences. He characterized this election as one focused on connecting voters with relevant issues rather than relying on financial influence.

Singh referred to Anant Singh as a mentor who supports him, but he denied any alliance between Prashant Kishor and Anant Singh. He clarified that in council elections, party symbols are not used, allowing leaders and workers from various parties to endorse candidates. Addressing allegations related to past harassment cases and circulated videos, Singh described these claims as politically motivated. He asserted that a case registered in 2012 was false and that he had filed a complaint against the individual who allegedly disseminated a video using AI technology in 2022. However, independent verification of his claims remains unconfirmed.

As the election approaches, the impact of caste dynamics and Singh’s issue-driven campaign among educated voters is under scrutiny. In the Patna graduate constituency, Neeraj Kumar is representing the NDA, while the RJD has fielded Dilip Kumar. Voting for these eight constituencies will take place on October 23, with the Patna, Darbhanga, Tirhut, and Kosi seats for graduates, alongside the Patna, Darbhanga, Saran, and Tirhut seats for teachers. A total of 933 polling stations have been established for all eight seats, with 90 candidates vying for the four graduate seats and 60 candidates contesting for the four teacher seats. Despite the limited number of seats, this election is seen as crucial for the political landscape.
