
Patna, February 3: On the second day of the Bihar Assembly budget session, Finance Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav presented the budget for 2026-27. This budget, themed “Prosperous Bihar, Flourishing Bihar,” amounts to ₹3.47 lakh crore.
The previous fiscal year’s budget was ₹3.17 lakh crore. In his speech, the Finance Minister emphasized development, employment, women’s empowerment, and strengthening the rural economy. He announced a provision of ₹50 crore for the industrial sector to accelerate industrial development in the state. This funding aims to encourage new industries, attract investments, and create job opportunities for the youth.
Additionally, he proposed expanding the Haat-Bazaar Development Scheme to enhance commercial activities in rural areas. Strengthening these markets will directly benefit farmers, small traders, and local products. The Finance Minister praised Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, stating that the government operates under his principles of integrity, knowledge, respect, science, and ambition.
Claiming a steady increase in Bihar’s economic growth rate, he projected it to reach 14.9% in the upcoming year. Discussing the Seven Resolves initiative, he reiterated the goal of transforming Bihar into a developed state. To date, efforts have empowered 1.56 crore women. The budget also includes plans for five new expressways and affordable housing.
He emphasized that the government aims to lead women towards education, respect, and self-reliance, with special provisions for women’s development programs in the upcoming year. The Finance Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to making Bihar a developed state.
