Patna, February 20: The atmosphere in the Bihar Assembly was lively on the 14th day of the budget session. Following this, government ministers held a press conference to discuss the budget and their departments, while also addressing opposition criticisms.
Minister of Minority Affairs, Jama Khan, spoke to the media, highlighting that the Muslim community faces significant challenges. He noted that when Nitish Kumar came to power, the budget was minimal, which hindered development. Under his leadership, the budget was increased, with a focus on madrasas. He assured that any encroachments on Waqf Board land would be removed.
Mohammad Sohel, Secretary of the Minority Affairs Department, announced that the state government will establish the position and office of a minority welfare officer at the block level. Appointments for 534 block officers will be made through the Public Service Commission. Currently, two schools are operational for students from grades 9 to 12, with 22 more under construction. This year, academic activities will commence in five new schools, with provisions for 560 students in one of them. All madrasas in the state will offer courses in Hindi, English, Mathematics, and Social Science.
In response to rising crimes against women in Bihar, JDU MLC Neeraj Kumar remarked that opposition leader Rabri Devi has failed to protect the women and daughters of Bihar. He challenged her to present facts to support her allegations, which she could not do. Kumar accused her of making false claims and being out of touch with reality.
JDU MLC Khalid Anwar explained that the regular updating of voter information occurs every 24 years, a process managed by the Election Commission. He criticized Rahul Gandhi, stating that he fails to recognize the positive aspects of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiatives, which has led him to act against the country’s interests. Anwar emphasized the importance of the AI Summit for national progress and criticized Gandhi’s negative stance.
Minister Dilip Jaiswal highlighted that the Election Commission, under the Supreme Court’s supervision, conducted fair elections in Bihar, showcasing the integrity of the electoral process to leaders like Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee.
