BigMe Unveils HiBreak Dual: A Unique Smartphone with E-Ink and LCD Displays

Mumbai, April 18:

BigMe, a brand from China known for its innovative color E-Ink screen products, has launched a new smartphone called the HiBreak Dual. This device is not designed to compete in the flagship market. Instead, it occupies a niche between e-readers and conventional smartphones.

BigMe HiBreak Dual Specifications

At first glance, the HiBreak Dual resembles a typical smartphone, but its standout feature is the 6.13-inch color E-Ink display on the front. In monochrome mode, the screen boasts a sharp 300 PPI, while the color mode offers a resolution of 150 PPI. It also supports stylus input, enhanced by the “Infinity Canvas” feature, allowing users to write and record freely, thus increasing its utility in daily tasks.

Turning the device over reveals a more experimental aspect. The back features a 1.85-inch circular LCD display with a resolution of 360 × 360. This small screen can be used to check notifications, view the time or weather, and even serve as a rear viewfinder for photography.

Powered by the Dimensity 1080, an octa-core processor from 2022, the HiBreak Dual runs on Android 14. While this version is not the latest, as Android 17 is on the horizon, it still offers a solid performance. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, dual SIM support, infrared, and a fingerprint sensor.

The smartphone is equipped with a 4,500mAh battery that supports 18W charging. While these specifications may seem standard, the E-Ink display could potentially extend battery life beyond that of typical smartphones in practical use.

Pricing and Availability

The base model of the BigMe HiBreak Dual, featuring 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, is priced at $519. The 12GB + 256GB variant is available for $599. Additionally, there is a bundle option that includes a stylus and protective case, priced at $569 for the 8/128GB model and $689 for the 12/256GB version.
