
Mumbai, April 8: Renowned actress Bhumi Chawla, celebrated for her remarkable performances in Bollywood and South Indian cinema, recently took a trip down memory lane. She shared nostalgic photographs from 28 years ago on Instagram, reminiscing about her film journey and the diverse roles she has portrayed throughout her career.
In her Instagram post, Bhumi shared vintage photos captured by the famous photographer Dabboo Ratnani. Alongside these images, she wrote, “How much time has passed… life is captured in pictures… this photo is from 1998, and it feels like an entire era has gone by.”
Bhumi also reflected on the various characters she has played in her life. She mentioned, “I have taken on many roles in life – as a daughter, wife, mother, sister, and friend. Each of these experiences has made me stronger and provided valuable life lessons.”
Sharing her insights, she noted that both success and failure are part of life. Each experience teaches us and helps us grow. She faced numerous challenges before and during her time in the film industry, but each obstacle made her a more insightful and versatile artist.
Speaking of her career, Bhumi’s real name is Rachna Chawla. She made her acting debut in 2000 with the Telugu film ‘Yuvakudu.’ Following that, she starred in several successful South Indian films, including ‘Jai Chiranjeevi,’ ‘Sillunu Oru Kaadhal,’ ‘Badri,’ ‘Khushi,’ ‘Okkadu,’ ‘Singhadri,’ and ‘Middle Class Abbayi.’
Her Bollywood debut came with the film ‘Tere Naam’ (2003), where she starred alongside Salman Khan. This film, a remake of the Tamil movie ‘Sethu,’ was considered a cult classic upon its release.
Most recently, Bhumi was seen in the film ‘School,’ which was released in Tamil in 2025. This psychological thriller was directed by R.K. Vidyadharan.
