New Delhi, February 17: Tariq Rahman, the leader of the BNP, took the oath of office as Prime Minister of Bangladesh on Tuesday. President Mohammad Shahabuddin administered the oath. In response to Rahman’s appointment, BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi expressed hope that the new government in Bangladesh would progress in a positive direction.

In an interview in New Delhi, Naqvi remarked that recent events in Bangladesh, particularly concerning the treatment of minorities, should serve as lessons for the new government to advance positively.

Commenting on statements made by former interim government head Mohammad Yunus, Naqvi stated that such actions are not in the interest of Bangladesh or its people. He emphasized that those engaging in such activities cannot be considered friends of Bangladesh.

Naqvi also criticized those opposing the national songVande Mataram,” suggesting that they are influenced by the ideology of the Muslim League. He noted that the Muslim League’s opposition to “Vande Mataram” during the independence movement revealed its toxic mindset, which was rooted in the narrative of partition. He asserted that this harmful ideology should not resurface, as some individuals attempt to inject religious sentiments into “Vande Mataram.” He clarified that it is not a religious song but rather a patriotic anthem, filled with the spirit of 1.4 billion people.

Regarding Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar’s comments, Naqvi pointed out that the Congress party is struggling to maintain its own ground while trying to create a negative atmosphere across the country, which ultimately backfires on them.

On the topic of the AI Summit, Naqvi stated that India is set to become a leader in artificial intelligence. He noted that India has embraced and advanced the technologies that have emerged globally for the benefit of the nation. He criticized the opposition for only seeing negativity in everything and suggested they learn from the AI Summit, as their original intelligence seems to be lacking.
