Balancing Development and Nature: Madhya Pradesh Embraces Green Building Technology

Bhopal, May 2: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav emphasized that while development is a priority, the effective use of funds in infrastructure development is crucial. The state is advancing with green building technology.

On Saturday, Chief Minister Yadav inaugurated a national seminar on green building technology and the 113th Governing Council meeting of the Indian Building Congress at the Kushabhau Thakre Convention Hall. He referenced ancient construction works, noting that King Bhoj gifted us a remarkable legacy of ancient Indian construction traditions through his writings on Bhojpatra.

“Our world is composed of five elements, with Earth at its center. The geographical center of Earth is located near Ujjain in Dongla, historically regarded as a hub for timekeeping. He pointed out that Mandav Mahal near Indore is an excellent example of architecture, featuring a pond that maintains the coolness up to the second floor of the temple.

In Shringeri, along the banks of the Tungabhadra River, one can witness extraordinary examples of architectural art. He stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has connected ancient knowledge and traditions with contemporary science. Today, it is essential to learn from nature and progress alongside it. The construction of the large lake in Bhopal did not disrupt the mainstream; instead, it employed remarkable techniques for water management.

Similarly, construction work has been carried out around the Shipra River in Ujjain, with temples and shrines aligned with the river’s flow. Chief Minister Yadav reiterated that development is our priority, but we are advancing with green building technology to ensure the effective use of funds in infrastructure development. The state is focusing on environmentally friendly construction.

Global warming has emerged as a significant challenge. The state government has launched a water conservation campaign from Gudi Padwa to Ganga Dussehra, which includes the restoration of wells, stepwells, and all water structures across the state. He mentioned that the government has committed to working on water structures every year. Madhya Pradesh ranks first in the country for water conservation efforts.

Khandwa district secured the first position, while Barwani came in second. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India is progressing globally across all sectors. Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh stated that the state is advancing sustainable construction based on ancient Indian building techniques. Our Harappan civilization exemplified construction in harmony with nature. The temple of Angkor Wat is also a remarkable example of this balance, designed with future generations in mind.
