New Delhi, April 8: As summer approaches, skin care becomes essential. Unlike winter, summer demands more attention to skin health. Common issues include skin protection and sweat odor. Many resort to deodorants and perfumes to mask the smell, but these offer only temporary relief and lack a long-term solution. Ayurvedic practices emphasize achieving balance within the body rather than relying solely on external products.
According to Ayurveda, sweat odor is attributed to an imbalance of the Kapha and Vata doshas. This imbalance leads to excessive sweating, creating an environment for bacteria to thrive, especially in the heat, resulting in unpleasant odors that can cause embarrassment. Therefore, it is crucial to cleanse the body from within.
The root cause of this issue is often linked to dietary habits. Consuming fried, spicy, and heavily seasoned foods, along with inadequate hydration during summer, contributes significantly to hormonal imbalances. Additionally, many opt for synthetic fabrics instead of breathable cotton, which can increase body heat and lead to more sweating, as well as a higher likelihood of acne and rashes.
So, what can be done? Start your day with warm water. If possible, drink fennel water in the morning, as it has cooling properties and aids in digestion. Incorporate rose water into your daily routine for its soothing effects on both body and mind. Coconut water is also essential for keeping the body cool and boosting immunity. Additionally, consume buttermilk mixed with roasted cumin in the afternoon to prevent heat exhaustion and maintain a cool body temperature.
In addition to internal cooling, it is vital to keep the body clean externally. Taking a bath with neem leaves can help reduce bacteria. If neem is unavailable, bathing with alum can also be effective. To shield against sun exposure and odor, apply sandalwood and rose water on the skin. This not only cools the body but also adds a pleasant fragrance.
