Telangana CM Warns Action Against Corruption in Kaleshwaram Project

Hyderabad, April 21: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has made it clear that those responsible for the alleged multi-crore corruption in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project will not be spared. He emphasized that all guilty parties will face legal consequences.

After visiting the Medigadda Barrage in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, the Chief Minister stated that the government will take strict action in this matter. He warned that if the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) attempts to evade corruption allegations by seeking support from the BJP, the government will respond strategically.

CM Reddy mentioned that Justice P.C. Ghosh’s commission has already submitted a detailed report highlighting the misuse of funds. He accused BRS leader T. Harish Rao of meeting BJP leaders in Delhi out of fear of an investigation, yet no explanation has been provided so far.

The Chief Minister also criticized the central government for not ordering a CBI investigation into the Kaleshwaram Project, despite the state government’s requests. He noted that the state has already submitted a proposal to the center regarding this issue.

Revanth Reddy took a jab at former CM and BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), pointing out that KCR held a public meeting on the same day as his visit to Medigadda. He stated that a meeting with officials and technical experts to review the project was already scheduled.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the government will not shut down the Kaleshwaram Project but will repair it to ensure water availability for drinking and irrigation purposes.

He accused the previous BRS government of concealing facts following the damage to the Medigadda Barrage in 2023, attempting to gain electoral advantage. He also mentioned that the preliminary report from the National Dam Safety Authority was ignored.

Additionally, the Chief Minister alleged that KCR halted the Pranahita-Chevella project because it did not provide him with political or economic benefits.
